Exeat Weekends – There will be no Saturday School on the following days: September 20th, November 23rd (2008), January 24th, March 7th, May 2nd (2009).

 

Pre-Preparatory School

On Monday 23rd. and Tuesday 24th June, the ‘Between Friends’ concerts were held in Chadlington Hall. The concerts featured all the pupils of Years 1, 2 and 3 and were both a reflection and celebration of some aspects of the children’s work during the past academic year. The programme opened with a delightful dance/drama performance of ‘The Toy Shop’.  Year 1 then sang their hearts out in ‘Summer Magic’ and displayed some lively country dances. Class 2M performed a dramatised version of the Aesop fable ‘The Sun and the Wind’ and then the audience enjoyed a performance of ‘The Little Red Hen’ spoken entirely in German. Year 2 performed a most entertaining children’s oratorio ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’and the maypole dancers displayed total concentration in plaiting and unplaiting their ribbons. The afternoon concluded with Year 3 singing and acting some traditional English songs. It was a great afternoon’s entertainment!

On Friday, 27th June, Familiarisation Day , all pupils seem to have enjoyed a happy day visiting their new class for 2008/9.

On Saturday, 28th June, RADA ballet examinations took place in Chadlington Hall. The results will be published during the holiday.

On Monday 30th June, the Reverend and Mrs. London from ‘Harry and Friends’ Puppet Ministry, visited the school to lead assembly and teach about ‘The Fruits of the Spirit’.

On Thursday, 3rd July, the Leavers’ Service will take place in the cathedral at 2.15 p.m. The service is the highlight of the school year as we celebrate the five years which our Year 3 pupils have spent in the Pre-Preparatory School.  All parents and family members are warmly invited to attend.

On Friday, 4th July, the children will enjoy a picnic lunch in the marquee on the Paddock.

At the end of school on Friday, 4th July, the school will break up for the summer holiday.

 

Preparatory School

 

The Lower One pupils enjoyed a visit to Howletts Zoo on Friday.

The First Form spent Saturday in the Market Town of St Omer in France. They were able to try out their French at the Market as well as ordering their lunch in French at the local Restaurant.

On Thursday pupils were invited to wear their home clothes for the day and donate £2 each  towards our charity for the year – Kent Air Ambulance.

On Friday of this week, we will be welcoming all the new pupils who are joining King’s in September, who come to spend the day with us and get the opportunity to meet some of their fellow pupils.

New Pupils’ Parents’ Evening take place on Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30 p.m. in the Conference Centre.

 

Senior School

One lunch time, in Main School Yard, two pupils, Kishn Thandi and Seb Orlande, played guitar to raise money for the Roshni Charity for underprivileged children in India. Despite a rushed set-up and little time for rehearsals, pupils were happy to donate their money and the duo raised £22.42.

Our Careers Advisor, Mrs. Christine Laws, recently held a very successful Careers Fair and UCAS Information Day at the School for Lower Sixth pupils and parents.

On Fathers' Day, The Matthew Walker Benefit Cricket Match was held on The Paddock. Matthew, a Kent Cricketer, is an old boy of the School and chose the School's cricket ground for this important match. The guests enjoyed watching The Kent XI playing Twenty20 Cricket against the Old Roffensian XI.

On Monday, 23rd June, the Peregrine Theatre Workshop held sessions for the Lower Fifth pupils in School Hall.

On Thursday, 26th June, all Senior School pupils attended Sports Day at Deangate Ridge in Hoo.

At the end of June,The Senior School Drama Group performed Toad of Toad Hall and Two Precious Maidens.

At the end of term the Choral Concert was conducted in the Cathedral by Simon Taranczuk, which included pieces by Sumsion, Palestrina, Greene, Boyce, Bairstow, Lotti, Bruckner, Whiteacre, Thomsett, Mendelssohn, Tippett and Dyson.
