King’s Preparatory School

Key Stage 2 Test Results - May 2009

For the last five years, King's Preparatory School has topped the Medway School's Key Stage 2 performance tables and, celebrated further success this week (7 December 2009) with the publication of the Key Stage Two Assessment Test results by Schools Minister, Diana Johnson.   With an aggregate score of 285 points per pupil from the English, Mathematics and Science tests sat in May this year, King’s pupils exceeded the national average by 38 points.  Once again the school out-performed all but one of the 65 primary schools in Medway, with King’s pupils scoring 53 points per child above the average recorded in this authority.

Given the breadth of the intake and the wide focus of the curriculum, the School’s achievements are especially commendable.  They are testimony to the benefits of small-class teaching, the dedication and skill of the Preparatory School’s specialist staff, and the pupils’ endeavours.

The continued success comes at a time when the Minister for Children, Schools and Families, Ed Balls, admits that progress among 11-year-olds is "slowing down" and that more primary schools have slipped below the government's minimum target.
