A quote from an email sent to the Head Master from a parent of a pupil in the Fifth Form:

GCSE Results 2008

One needs to bear in mind that, essentially, we are a non-selective school:

60% of our pupils would not get into Grammar Schools!

• Our flat pass rate was up on last year's at 92.9%.
• The combined percentage of A*s and As was 42.4%
• The percentage achieving A*s, As and Bs was 71.6%.
• Sixty six pupils achieved an average of 8.38 passes (A*-C) per pupil.
• One GCSE pupil was among the top 10 pupils in England in the GCSE Fine Art exam (out of 9,673 candidates).
